We’re still here

Yes this website is still around. No I haven’t forgotten about it.

I just have had one busy year and haven’t had the mojo to update it as needed.

However most (if not all) of the information is still accurate in terms of meetings (contact information and all of that). Please know that I’m unsure if the leaders respond to the contact forms so I maybe rearranging some things to put direct contact information for each leader, but need permission from each group .

Rumor has it tick season will be bad this year. Remember if you find them attached to you, remove carefully with fine pointed tweezers and never ever drop anything on the tick to “make it back out.” All that does is frustrate the tick and it will empty out the stomach contents (which is where bacteria & viruses live in the tick) inside of you.

Dogs & Tick Borne Disease Map

http://www.dogsandticks.com/map/2012/

Put in your zipcode into this map and you can see the diseases of Lyme, Anaplasma, Ehrlichia & Heartworm – which are all vector borne diseases.

In North Carolina, the presence of all 4 exist.   It appears to be a map over 5 year period, but can’t tell for sure.  I will edit this post if I get information.

Circle of Friends Support Meeting in Apex NC

The next meeting of the Triangle Lyme Disease Support Group will be the second Sunday, October 11th 2:30 to 4:30PM at the Eva Perry Library in Apex, NC (2100 Shepherd’s Vineyard Dr.). The meeting room is in the back right corner of the library, next to the computer station. Our meeting will mainly be open discussion and will give everyone the opportunity to ask questions as well as share their experience, strength and compassion with one another. Bring a pen and if possible wear teal, purple or green. https://www.facebook.com/events/1627850534132212/

Unfortunately, I have some sad news to share with you.  In the last month, we have lost 3 members of the NC Lyme Community.  CC, Scott and Chelsea.

After I got the news of our losses, I began thinking of ways to remember & celebrate the  lives of our friends. It’s impossible to have a date & time that works for everyone so I’m hoping that many can join us on October 11th at 4:30pm at the Eva Perry Library. After our meeting ends at 4:30, we will all meet out front (hopefully weather will cooperate) to create a circle of friends to have a small remembrance time. We hope that even if you aren’t able to attend the meeting from 2:30 to 4:30 that you will join us for a short time at the conclusion of the meeting. If we exceed the meeting room capacity, we may have to split the meeting and have some members meet outside – we have never met the capacity of the room, but since this meeting is the first one since we lost a member of the group – I’m not quite sure what to expect.

Thank you so much and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on October 11th. If you have any questions about the meeting, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask.
